Duncraig Manor & Gardens Accommodations

Upon entering this completely restored Manor House you are taken back in time to experience what living was like for the wealthy in the 1930s.  There are modern amenities but the room configurations and most bath fixtures are original.  When you book a room at Duncraig Manor you will have a choice of 8 accommodations.  Each one has a private bath; some are located in the room and others are just a step or so away.  The floor plans show these details.  Robes are provided in each room for the use of guests.  The rate of $195.00 per night, single or double occupancy, is the same for all rooms or suites.  Descriptions of rooms and suites are viewed from the Rooms menu.

Duncraig Manor, an English Country Tudor Style home, was built for the family of the Chairman of the Quaker Oats Company.  Construction began in 1928 and the architect designed it for the needs of this well-to-do family.  The Manor has well-segmented floor plans.  The center section of this 12,600 square foot house has the living room and library on the main level and two large bedrooms for the adult family members on the second floor.  There is a wing on the west side of the house that contains bedrooms for the children and their nanny on both the main and upper levels.  The ground level of this wing is where the children’s playroom is located along with a kitchenette and a full bath (now the Spa Lounge and Bath).  There is another wing on the east side of the house with bedrooms for the hired help on the second floor and kitchen, butler’s pantry, dining rooms and a staff office on the main level.  Attached to the east wing is a 3-car garage with a small 2-room apartment above.

Guest Reviews

Caroline and Donald,
What a pleasure it was to spend such a lovely weekend at Duncraig Manor. My daughter, Mary, and I felt so warmly welcomed by the inviting ambience of your inn. It truly was like staying in the luxurious home of a friend!
Your breakfasts were not only delicious, but lavish and nourishing as well.
Many, many thanks for your gracious hospitality. I hope I get the chance to stay again.

We have had the distinct pleasure of spending 4 nights with Don and Caroline (owners of Duncraig Manor and Gardens) as some of their first guests! They are wonderful people who spoiled us with caring hospitality! Our son’s favorite things were the GIANT breakfast, the pool, and the afternoon hors d’oeuvres! Delicious food served elegantly by experienced care takers. This lovely castle-like home with its remarkable owners make it the perfect Bed and Breakfast right outside the back gate at Fort Bragg and an easy jog to Southern Pines! My son is already asking when we can come back for another vacation!

Dear Don & Caroline,
I’ve stayed in many places in the U.S., SE Asia and Europe. Without exception, Duncraig is the most gracious of all. I appreciated your warm hospitality and excellent food. The overall splendor won’t soon be forgotten.
God bless both of you.

Jeff
