What our guests say about us

Hi!

I just wanted to let you know how amazing our stay was at Duncraig Manor this weekend!  So many reasons that my husband Scott and I had such a lovely time.

Ed and his wife were so VERY NICE, we felt at home the entire time!  They were both so welcoming, accommodating, and helpful throughout our entire stay.

The house is so beautiful, what attention to detail!  We enjoyed our time admiring the pictures, antiques and special items in the common areas of the home.

The breakfasts we had were so very tasty!  What a start to the day, really very nice.

So happy that we were able to do the 5:00 hors d’oeuvres, the conversations had were so enjoyable! Glad to not miss it, thanks for offering that!

The gardens, well…so so beautiful.  So many beautiful things from the fountains, mossy bricks of the paths, lily pads, beautiful furniture to sit on, such quality iron gates to walk through, enjoyed looking at the variety of plants, beautiful exterior lighting at night, loved every moment.

A big thanks for the wonderful stay and will plan to come again!

Donald & Caroline,

Thank you so much for everything you did to make our wedding day so special.

We had the perfect weekend getaway at Duncraig Manor and Gardens. The property and home are just beautiful and met all of our comfort needs nestled in the quaint town of Southern Pines. We enjoyed every moment from relaxing on the Terrace with a cup of coffee, delicious afternoon hors d’oeuvres and drinks, to the most amazing breakfast. The small touches like turndown service and even recognizing my husband’s birthday meant the world. Nothing was as amazing as the owners Don and Caroline and their attention to detail, kind and welcoming atmosphere, and their help for us by making dinner reservations and booking our massages in the spa which allowed us to just relax and enjoy our time fully. The town offered such great places to eat and explore which made it the perfect getaway. We highly recommend a stay here and will be back for sure!

Caroline and Donald,

What a pleasure it was to spend such a lovely weekend at Duncraig Manor.  My daughter, Mary, and I felt so warmly welcomed by the inviting ambience of your inn.  It truly was like staying in the luxurious home of a friend!

Your breakfasts were not only delicious, but lavish and nourishing as well.

Many, many thanks for your gracious hospitality.  I hope I get the chance to stay again.

The Duncraig went above and beyond to make our wedding weekend spectacular. Caroline and Don are not just proprietors, but the heart and soul of the Duncraig. They are vital to what a wonderful experience it was to have them host me, and my family, as the bride to be before my big day, as well as my husband and I following our wedding. I would recommend any bride make the Duncraig part of your wedding. It’s big enough to host a reception on the manicured grounds, but also very intimate with a luxurious private honeymoon suite. Additionally, any traveler looking for the southern charm of an immaculately refurbished manor in the best historically preserved town in NC should put the Duncraig as a must stay. The hospitality, food, and atmosphere were 5 out of 5. Thank you Caroline & Don, we can’t wait for our next visit!

Dear Don & Caroline,

I’ve stayed in many places in the U.S., SE Asia and Europe.  Without exception, Duncraig is the most gracious of all.  I appreciated your warm hospitality and excellent food.  The overall splendor won’t soon be forgotten.

God bless both of you.

Jeff

Thanks for a wonderful stay. The house was spectacular, as was our room & breakfast. So glad we came. A wonderful birthday present.

Do yourself a favor and stay here. The grounds, home, etc. are incredible and one of a kind. My husband and I were looking for a place that would feel like an experience as it was our 10th wedding anniversary and that was what was provided and more. Upon arriving and pulling up to this picturesque manor, we were greeted by Caroline and she made us feel right at home, and gave us a tour of the home. They have lovingly restored this manor and put thoughtful touches into the design (rooms were themed around different countries or cities/states). Then Don and Caroline served wine and appetizers poolside! Delicious! And we talked with the other guests as we sipped and snacked. For dinner they had plenty of recommendations and offered to make us reservations. We headed towards Pinehurst for dinner although there were plenty of places for us to dine just 5 minutes away. The next morning’s breakfast (eggs Benedict and waffles) was perfection with added ambience of eating with the other guests, plus music, plus the view of the grounds from the windows. Can’t wait to travel to Duncraig again and spend more time with Don and Caroline! (Logistically – the place was sparkling clean, beds comfy and there was plenty of privacy if it was wanted. This is a place that gives you that five star feeling from start to finish.)

We had an amazing stay at the Duncraig Manor. They go above and beyond with the 5 PM wine with hors d’ouevres, turn down service, and the breakfast was to die for. Highly recommend staying here and we can’t wait to visit again!

This is a beautifully restored estate located on the outskirts of the charming town of Southern Pines, NC.  This Tudor-style mansion was originally built by the head of Quaker Oats.  Touches of charm are everywhere — antiques, paintings, gardens and fountains.  The restoration is a marvel of preserving the past while adding modern touches — like instant hot water tanks and WI-FI.  The wine and mini-meal on arrival were bested only by the morning breakfast.  We celebrated our anniversary using Duncraig as a B&B, but it is so elegant that it could also serve as an event venue.  You will enjoy your host and hostess, too.  They have plenty of experience at this (including properties in Missouri, Colorado, New York and Georgia) and it shows.

Lovely stay. Hosts were delightful. WiFi worked great, beds & linens were plush, “Butler’s Pantry” open to all for drinks and snacks. East access to WM Foundation & downtown So Pines. Literally nothing to even nit-pick as a criticism.

My wife and I enjoyed our visit to Duncraig Manor and Gardens in Southern Pines. The house is absolutely beautiful — decorated in an English Tudor style. The rooms are very comfortable. There is plenty of room to sit for a quiet conversation, to read a book, or to enjoy music. The gardens were very pretty. The outdoor patios provide a wonderful place to enjoy a drink, while relaxing in complete comfort. My wife and I loved the small gazebo where we enjoyed a drink while overlooking the yard and trees. The house is located less than one mile from downtown. There is a beautiful park, with nature trails, right across the street. Driving up the house will make you feel like you are arriving at a beautiful English Manor. Caroline and Don are wonderful hosts. They are very friendly and do an amazing job to ensure you have a great experience in their lovely home. Each evening they served hor dourves and drinks. There is an amazing butler’s pantry full of drinks and snacks. The breakfast was absolutely delicious … served in the beautiful dining room. Our room was very comfortable, with plenty of nice touches. The bathroom had the original sink and a large tub. The bed was very comfortable. We are looking forward to another visit to Duncraig Manor and Gardens.

This was a birthday present from my husband. First of all, this property is absolutely stunning. I know it’s Southern Pines, but even still, it took my breath away.
The hosts were friendly and breakfast on both days was outstanding. I especially loved the deceptively huge bathtub; after soaking in that, I slept like a baby.
Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

WOW! We saw the before … and how wonderful to now enjoy the after!
Thank you for sharing this journey with us … we’re so exited to have this home away from home!

You’ve created a warm, beautiful home away from home. Thanks

Gayle & Steve

Our first trip to Southern Pines was extraordinary because of the warmth and total pampering of our hosts Caroline and Don and the “home away from home” feeling of Duncraig Manor. Duncraig Manor is an exquisitely appointed English Tudor house with all the comforts you can imagine. No expense was spared in the restoration of this magnificent estate. Every room has different decorating details and all include amenities that have been thoughtfully provided, from powerful Wi-Fi to a gas fireplace to beautiful fabrics and furnishings.

The breakfasts were homemade and lovingly prepared with individualized attention to our dietary needs and desires. The beautiful dining room looks out on the garden and terrace. Complementary coffee, tea, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages were available 24/7 in the handy butler’s pantry.

The common rooms were warm and inviting and you felt like you were in an English Manor like a mini Downton Abby. Every detail was perfect. The wood floors were polished and the oriental rugs were perfect for each room.

Our hosts, Caroline and Don, are experienced inn keepers and had done many similar restorations; their previous endeavors showed as no detail was spared. They treated us like family and we would definitely return if we ever visit this area in the future.

We can’t recommend Duncraig Manor highly enough. If we could give it six stars, we would.

We have had the distinct pleasure of spending 4 nights with Don and Caroline (owners of Duncraig Manor and Gardens) as some of their first guests! They are wonderful people who spoiled us with caring hospitality! Our son’s favorite things were the GIANT breakfast, the pool, and the afternoon hors d’oeuvres! Delicious food served elegantly by experienced care takers. This lovely castle-like home with its remarkable owners make it the perfect Bed and Breakfast right outside the back gate at Fort Bragg and an easy jog to Southern Pines! My son is already asking when we can come back for another vacation!
